The AIU MSC Pitt-Bridge program is an extracurricular program that encourages students to learn 21st century skills through engagement in the health sciences. Its VISION is to excite underserved youth in STEM by engaging in health research in their community, become family health advocates, and improve community health. It does so through its MISSION to provide an opportunity for underserved youth to participate in health science clubs where rigorous experiential learning is conducted in an after-school setting. To learn more about the program, find out what topics students are currently researching in their communities, and how you can get involved, please see the attached article

The Covalent Learning Forum is an online discussion board where high school science teachers can communicate with Pittsburgh university scientists to ask a quick concept question, find out about current research, and develop new hands-on lab activities. Over 20 scientists are excited to share their enthusiasm, so it will be a shared learning experience for everyone involved! Visit www.covalentlearning.weebly.com to start the conversation.

Citizen Power is offering a FREE workshop for 6th – 12th grade teachers of energy-related curriculum on Concentrating Solar Energy, Solar Thermal Heating, and Passive Solar Building Design. Participants receive six Act 48 credit hours, lunch, and over $120 of teaching resources and “toys” including: a Solar Parabolic Mirror, Solar H2O Heater Kit, Fresnel Lens, Chemical Heat Pack, Solar Tube, Amazing Ice Melting Blocks, resource binder and flashdrive.
